PIT: The Right Workout – No Days OFF®

I married a woman much smaller than me. She’s very athletic, a professional dancer and choreographer, but the simple difference in size was making it difficult to work out together. We first tried riding mountain bikes but she grew frustrated trying to keep up and I felt bad for often leaving her behind. The same applied to jogging. We tried traditional gyms but soon discovered we were headed in different directions there, too. As much as we enjoyed each other, it seemed our passion for fitness wasn’t jiving.

I was talking to a buddy of mine about it and he told me about a gym he had just joined that had a unique approach to group fitness classes so I checked into it. It was a bootcamp gym, with personal trainers coaching group bootcamp classes. The style of training was called Partner Interval Training or PIT and the first class was completely free so I signed us up to give it a try. What did we have to lose?

When we arrived for our free bootcamp class, I was surprised by how friendly and welcoming everyone was. You don’t feel that at a 24 hour gym! PIT turned out to be amazing. Class members are paired up to go through a 20 station bootcamp workout together, each performing at his or her personal level. Immediately, my wife and I knew we had found the solution to working out together.

Even after nearly a year as a member, the trainers never fail to blow my mind with motivation, encouragement and education. My wife and I are rarely paired together anymore but seeing her across the gym enjoying herself and reaching her fitness goals with a smile on her face makes me know that we found more than a bootcamp gym we found a fitness family.
